Sania

Sania lived on her husband’s limited income and wanted to contribute financially to support her family. After learning basic stitching skills, she struggled to turn them into a steady source of income due to a lack of resources.

Through the GEAR microfinancing programme, Sania received an interest-free loan, which she used to purchase sewing machines and start a small home-based tailoring service. As her work gained recognition within the community, she began receiving more orders.

Recognizing an opportunity to expand her impact, Sania started teaching stitching to girls in her neighborhood. Her initiative grew through word-of-mouth, enabling other young women to develop practical, income-generating skills.

Sania’s journey highlights how access to financial support can transform a basic skill into a sustainable livelihood while creating opportunities for others.
