Seema
A determined mother of three, found herself in a difficult financial situation when her husband lost his job two years ago. With a growing family to support and no stable source of income, she was driven by the need to become financially independent. She learned about the GEAR Women Self-Employment Program through her neighbour and a GEAR field officer. Encouraged by their support, she decided to explore the opportunities the program could offer her.
Seema had already initiated a small business selling unstitched clothes, but due to limited resources, it had not yet gained momentum. With the financial assistance and guidance provided by GEAR, she was able to expand significantly, increasing both her customer base and profits. Her initial customers came from personal connections in a local school and her neighbourhood, and through word-of-mouth marketing, she successfully built a strong customer base. With an initial investment of PKR 35,000 from GEAR-COSARAF funding, she now earns a monthly profit of PKR 18,000, ensuring financial stability for her family.
