Samina Khatoon

A hardworking mother of four, sought financial stability to support her family and manage household expenses. She learned about the GEAR Women Self-Employment Program through her acquaintances. Encouraged by their support, she issued an appeal and was granted assistance to enhance her stitching business. While she was already skilled in making stitched clothes, GEAR’s support made it easier for her to expand and sustain her business.

Samina’s first customers came from her neighbourhood, and over time, her husband’s friend began outsourcing stitching work to her, further boosting her earnings. She markets her business through word-of-mouth, WhatsApp statuses, and connections with school teachers. Despite this success, she still finds it challenging to manage expenses, especially with her children’s school fees.

Samina operates her business independently with the support of her husband and daughter. Looking ahead, she hopes to acquire one or two more stitching machines so that her daughter can also contribute to the business. She believes that expanding her setup will not only improve their financial situation but also create opportunities for others in the community. Her journey has strengthened her faith, making her feel deeply grateful for the support she has received. She extends her heartfelt appreciation to the GEAR Team, urging them to continue their impactful work, as their assistance has transformed her life for the better.
