Kiren

Kiren has been cycling for years. It began as a practical eco-friendly way to commute, and a positive step for her health and mental wellbeing. Living with asthma and joint pain, cycling also became a way for her to manage her health conditions.

Over time, cycling alone started to feel isolating. When she heard about Cycle Sisters, she saw an opportunity to join a community of like-minded women, and to give back – to help other women experience the benefits that cycling had brought into her life.

“I wanted to share what cycling had done for me. It’s changed my life for the better, so I wanted other women to have the same opportunity!”

Training as a Volunteer Ride Leader in 2024 was Kiren’s way of empowering others – but she didn’t realise it would do even more for her.

“I came into it wanting to give back to others, but I didn’t expect how much I would gain.”

Leading rides gave Kiren the chance to develop new skills – particularly around leadership, organisation, and communication. She found herself growing in confidence, learning how to support and motivate other women and becoming a role model.

But perhaps most rewarding of all was the community she found.

“I’ve met so many amazing women – many of us share similar interests like health, active living, and caring for the environment. It’s been beautiful to connect with other women in my local community over something so positive.”
