Faith
Advantage Africa supports young people with intellectual disabilities in Kenya to transition out of school and into their own enterprise.
Faith Luita, a 22 year old young woman, suffers from Downs Syndrome which causes moderate learning disabilities.
Working with Advantage Africa, Faith’s goat and poultry rearing has really taken off with the help of her mother. They now have a large number of chickens and are continuously selling eggs and birds for meat. The goat has given birth to an offspring.
Faith’s mother reported that Faith is more self-confident, and very happy and rated the transition process as 100% successful!
Additionally, Faith’s father who was previously running a small bar in the nearest town, switched to farming after witnessing the success of Faith’s goat and poultry. He now has a large flock of sheep, and has expanded the chicken and livestock sheds and also makes money from selling manure.
