Ramadan Tent Project

Who we are

Their Mission: Turning strangers into friends.

Ramadan Tent Project (RTP) is an award-winning British charity founded in 2013, with a mission of bringing communities together and developing the understanding of Ramadan.

Proud producers of the world’s largest annual Ramadan Festival, RTP’s vision is a world where all people live together in harmony. RTP’s work is driven by creating spaces of dialogue, mutual understanding and belonging – building bridges between all faiths and none. Inspired by the month of Ramadan, RTP is proud to increase representation, awareness and understanding of Muslim cultures and heritage with people from all backgrounds.

Open Iftar is the flagship initiative of Ramadan Tent Project, and the UK’s largest community and cultural event in Ramadan.

To date, Open Iftar has brought together over one-million people across the UK at some of Britain’s most loved and iconic cultural spaces – from Trafalgar Square, Wembley Stadium and Tate Modern in London to King’s College (Cambridge), Principality Stadium (Cardiff, Wales) and V&A Dundee (Scotland). This milestone highlight’s RTP’s commitment to fostering community, inclusivity, and cultural exchange during the holiest month in the Islamic calendar.

Our project

Open Iftar

COSARAF Foundation partnered with RTP to host the first ever COSARAF sponsored Open Iftar event at the V&A London in 2023.  This event saw over 450 guests break fast together in the beautiful Raphael room.

We continued this partnership in 2024, with a second COSARAF sponsored Open Iftar event held on 27th March at SOAS, University of London.  Over 250 guests were welcomed into the Atrium of Senate House and broke fast together.

We hope to host our third annual iftar event in 2025 with RTP, so please watch this space.
