Riaz Ahmad

BA PHILOSOPHY, POLITICS AND ECONOMIC, ST ANNE’S COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD

Riaz is currently reading Philosophy, Politics and Economic at Oxford with the intention of pursuing a career in public policy and the humanitarian and development sector. Through his degree, he hopes to develop the foundations necessary to contribute meaningfully to policy reform, international development, and the charitable sector.

Alongside his academic work, Riaz is a COSARAF Scholar and remains deeply committed to serving both the Muslim community in Oxford and his local community in Oldham. Having completed the Alimiyyah programme in Oldham, he now teaches at his local mosque, delivering classes, community talks and fundraising initiatives.

At Oxford, Riaz has been actively involved in widening access and charitable initiatives. As part of Oxford ISOC, he contributed to Charity Week fundraising efforts, and as Access Officer for the Bangladeshi Society, he worked with underrepresented Bangladeshi students to demystify Oxford life and encourage applications from backgrounds historically excluded.

Through the COSARAF programme, Riaz hopes to contribute more broadly as a Muslim public intellectual, engaging critically with contemporary political and ethical questions while grounding his work in both rigorous scholarship and community responsibility. Professionally, he aspires to work in policy advisory, NGO strategy, or international development, where he can help shape evidence-based solutions to structural inequality and humanitarian challenges.
