Cycle Sisters

Who we are

Cycle Sisters is an award-winning charity that creates accessible and empowering opportunities for Muslim women to cycle. Cycle Sisters addresses the significant inequalities Muslim women face in accessing cycling and physical activity. Muslim women are the least likely faith group to be physically active and to cycle, despite strong demand for culturally inclusive opportunities. Through women-only cycle rides, cycle lessons, volunteer training and campaigns, Cycle Sisters helps women overcome barriers to participation, improving health, wellbeing, confidence and social connection.

Our project

Cycle Sisters Expansion

Thanks to support from the COSARAF Foundation, Cycle Sisters will expand beyond its London operation by establishing two new community-led cycling groups. The project will recruit and train local women as volunteer Ride Leaders, develop partnerships with community organisations and local authorities, and create regular women-only cycling opportunities for Muslim women. As well as improving health, wellbeing and confidence in the two new locations, the partnership will create a scalable model to support Cycle Sisters’ future expansion into other communities across the UK.
