COSARAF Open Iftar Welcomes Over 250 Guests!

The news

On Wednesday 27th March, the COSARAF Foundation held it’s second annual Open Iftar event in the beautiful Atrium at SOAS, University of London.

Guests were received from 5.30pm and were welcomed by event partner, Ramadan Tent Project and their Team Teal volunteers and hosts.

Zak Sheikh, a young member of the Sheikh family, and son of co-founder Farouq Sheikh, launched the event with a key note speech on the theme for this Ramadan ‘Heritage’.  The Sheikh’s heritage transcends geographical barriers as they have roots in Pakistan, Kenya, Zimbabwe and UK – and these underpin the areas in which they focus their charitable work.

Following this, our muezzin, Hassen Rasool, recited a beautiful call to prayer, the adhan, and guests broke their fast with dates and water.

Prayers were led upstairs by Imam Abid, and then over 250 people were catered for by Spice Village.

Trustees were delighted to meet many of the Foundation’s delivery partners, Sheikh family scholars and stakeholders at the event.

We look forward to hosting our third annual Open Iftar in 2025.
