The news
The Imarah Women’s Empowerment Programme has been running successfully for the past three years (2022–2025) at the COSARAF Foundation’s flagship Fahmida Begum Foundation centre in Mehran Town, Karachi, Pakistan. Delivered by SEED Ventures, the programme has played a vital role in equipping underserved women with literacy, digital skills, vocational training, and entrepreneurship knowledge, enabling them to build confidence, pursue financial independence, and participate more fully within their communities. Over its three-year period, Imarah has become a trusted and transformative resource for women in a highly underserved area, fostering leadership, economic participation, and community cohesion while demonstrating consistently strong outcomes in learning, engagement, and enterprise development.
As a result of this proven success, the COSARAF Foundation has awarded SEED further funding to extend the programme for an additional 18 months from November2025. This new phase will strengthen instructional quality, enhance accountability systems, introduce improved student commitment processes, and broaden access for young women aged 18–30 seeking practical, income-generating skills. The intention is that, after this extension period, the programme will be transitioned into full delivery under the Fahmida Begum Foundation, ensuring long-term continuity and making Imarah a permanent, community-owned empowerment initiative for women in Mehran Town.
