Standing Up for Survivors: Renewed Funds for Herts Helpline

The news

Our mission at the COSARAF Foundation is to provide dignified and purposeful support to the most vulnerable members of society, which is a straightforward yet a powerful principle. We are pleased to announce that we will be continuing to support the Hertfordshire Domestic Abuse Helpline (HDAH) for a third year in a row with a £3,600 donation to cover the helpline’s yearly telephone system expenses. Call Handling, which operates the telephone system is an essential component of HDAH’s operations. It enables volunteers to answer crisis calls while hiding incoming numbers to preserve caller anonymity, which is a crucial safety measure for people who are reaching out during uncertain and frightening times. This minor but crucial detail could mean the difference between safety and silence.

We initially collaborated with HDAH in 2022 after realising how critical it was to support their operations in the face of rising demand. Since then, their yearly reports and testimonies have shown us the real results of our assistance. The helpline handled more than 2,500 calls in 2023 alone, providing men, women, and families throughout the county with sympathetic, non-judgmental support. This comes after the helpline has helped over 40,000 people since it started.

We dedicate our donation to this specific purpose because we believe in making focused contributions that deliver meaningful impact. By covering this annual cost, the HDAH is able to remain fully focused on supporting callers, training volunteers, and expanding its reach within the community.  As always, our reward for this support is knowing that this lifeline is still available to those in need.

The Hertfordshire Domestic Abuse Helpline is one of the organisations that the we are proud to support. A safe, listening ear should always be just a phone call away, and by working together, we can help ensure that no one faces abuse alone.
