The news
Over 100 children from Swansea, Cardiff, and Newport had the opportunity of a lifetime as they stepped onto the pitch at Swansea City Stadium, thanks to the support of the Football Association of Wales (FAW) and the dedicated efforts of Simon Lu.
Organised as part of a wider effort to engage and inspire young people through sport, the event brought together children from diverse communities for a day filled with energy, excitement, and lasting memories. The initiative not only provided a rare chance to play in a professional football stadium but also promoted unity and confidence through shared experience.
The event was made even more special through our sponsored full kits and tracksuits for all participating children and volunteers. This ensured that each young participant took to the field feeling confident, proud, and part of something bigger than themselves.
“Opportunities like these are incredibly powerful,” said a volunteer. “For many of these children, this was their first time in a professional football stadium — and being able to play on that pitch, wearing their own kits, made it truly unforgettable.”
The day was filled with excitement, laughter, and a strong sense of community spirit. From warm-ups to friendly matches, children displayed enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and teamwork, all while enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Beyond football, the event showcased the positive impact that collaborative community efforts can have in shaping young lives. It brought together organisations, families, and volunteers under a shared vision: to empower and inspire the next generation through meaningful, inclusive opportunities.
