Opening Doors: COSARAF Renews Support to Empower Deaf Girls in Pakistan
The COSARAF Charitable Foundation is delighted to confirm the renewal of our partnership with the Family Educational Services Foundation (FESF), providing continued funding for their outstanding Empowering Deaf Girls to Learn project in Pakistan.
This transformative initiative addresses the severe lack of educational opportunities for deaf girls in Pakistan, who often face profound social, economic, and cultural barriers. With the COSARAF Foundation’s renewed grant of £26,000 for 2024-25, FESF will once again provide scholarships to 50 deaf girls from disadvantaged backgrounds, allowing them to attend Deaf Reach Schools in Karachi and Lahore for a full academic year.
The programme offers more than just academic education. Alongside tuition, students receive vocational skills training, life skills education, and vital social development opportunities in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Transport, meals, uniforms, and learning materials are provided, removing additional barriers to attendance.
Importantly, the project also engages families, offering Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) classes for parents and regular parent-teacher meetings. This holistic approach strengthens family relationships, improves communication, and fosters long-term support for the girls’ continued education.
COSARAF has been proud to support FESF’s vital work since the inception of this programme. The organisation’s proven track record — including high female enrolment rates, excellent student retention, and active community engagement — demonstrates the lasting impact that targeted, inclusive education can achieve.
We look forward to following the progress of this year’s cohort of students and celebrating their successes.
