Join Hands Trust supports 250 families in India this Ramadan

The COSARAF Foundation’s Ramadan Fund continues it’s annual support in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India, with food parcels distributed to 250 poor Muslim families through our valued partner the Join Hands Trust.

Our £7,000 donation allowed the Join Hands Trust’s Ramadan programme to provide essential food items for the disadvantaged and needy families to prepare suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and iftar (meal for breaking fast) during the holy month of Ramadan.

Most of the families supported included widows, the destitute, blind and physically challenged individuals. The beneficiary’s average family size was between 3-5 and 250 families benefited during the holy month.

The food parcels comprised of rice, dhall, wheat flour, cooking oil, tea, sugar, salt, dates, masala powder and vermicelli.

These are all staples of the Indian diet during Ramadan and helped the most needy families, as selected from the local community by our partner on the ground.

We are thankful to our partners, Join Hands Trust, who are able to coordinate the delivery of this valuable programme, targeting the most needy people in their community.
