Celebrating 10 years with Carers Worldwide

We were delighted to attend the 10th anniversary event for our partner, Carers Worldwide, hosted in the historic River Room, House of Lords, London, as a guest of Baroness Uddin.

Carers Worldwide are a small UK-based charity with a commitment to changing the lives of carers.  Although operated by a small team, their hugely impactful delivery is focused in South Asia, and they have plans to expand to Pakistan and Sub-Saharan Africa.

We’re pleased to have supported them in delivering vital services to carers in a sub-district of Dhaka, Bangladesh.  This has included providing nutritious food and vital emergency medical and therapeutic support to carers and those they care for, along with support to open a new community caring centre in Dhaka this year.

At the event, after a warm welcome from Baroness Uddin, we were interested to hear the story of founder Anil Patil and his wife Ruth, and their personal journey into launching the charity.

Findings from recent analysis of their work has shown that for every £1 invested in Carers Worldwide, they generate £7.79 of social impact, which is an outstanding ROI!

Following this, we also heard from Ortise Williams, singer and music producer, formerly of pop band JLS, and current Commonwealth Champion for Young Carers on his personal experiences as young carer in his youth and the importance of the work Carers Worldwide is doing.

Jonathan Freeman, our Senior Strategic Advisor, spoke as Chair of Carers Worldwide, thanking donors for their support and closing the evening with a reminder to all those wishing to support to donate.
