Carers Worldwide Match Funded for new Community Caring Centre

The Cosaraf Foundation have awarded £1,750 in match funding towards the Campaign for a new Community Caring Centre.

Carers Worldwide’s Community Caring Centres provide early intervention, therapeutic and educational activities for children with disabilities, at the same time as providing their mothers with the chance to socialise, take time off from caring and even have time to earn an income.
In collaboration with their partner, the Centre for Disability in Development, they have been seeking to set up a new centre in Savar dub-district on the outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh, to meet the huge demand for support for disabled children and their carers.

The centre will provide a day service five days a week, offering 12 children with disabilities the chance to engage in individualised therapeutic and educational activities, and their primary carers an opportunity to socialise and provide mutual support to each other whilst their children play and learn.

The carers will also have the option to leave their child supervised at the centre so that they can complete important errands, relax, or undertake small income-generating activities which they cannot do whilst providing full-time care. Their existing centres in other locations have proven very successful with 90% of children who attend achieving their set education or therapy goals, and mothers reporting increased wellbeing.

The Cosaraf Foundation are pleased to offer Carers Worldwide a grant in match funding supporter donations of £1,750, to help launch this new centre, planned for early 2023.
